Wisdom is often confused with intelligence.
While it is true that wise people are smart, the
reverse is not. A lot of smart people do not
exercise, or exhibit wisdom. Much of the
culture views wisdom as something achieved
through intellectual, or academic pursuits.
Unfortunately, a high academic standing
doesn't automatically mean the application
of wisdom, or common sense.
The biblical portrait of wisdom is much different from 21st Century culture. It's
because the biblical source of wisdom begins with God, not human
achievement, ability, or academic pursuits.
Our midwinter teaching series will explore wisdom beyond the mind as we
consider the Proverbs. King Solomon wrote over 3,000 proverbs and this son of
David wrote a sizeable number of them in the book of Proverbs. Join us as we
explore this Old Testament book that offers insight into God's revelation of
"Lady wisdom".
